Plasma fibroblast works by creating a controlled micro-trauma on the skin’s surface using a specialised device.
As the skin heals, it becomes:
Unlike traditional treatments:
It is often considered a non-invasive alternative to procedures like blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery).
After treatment:
Results develop gradually:
When performed by a qualified practitioner, plasma fibroblast is a safe and effective treatment. A full consultation is required to assess:
This treatment is generally considered safe for Fitzpatrick skin types I–III (lighter skin tones).
For Fitzpatrick skin types IV, V, and VI (darker skin tones), the treatment carries a significantly higher risk of complications, particularly pigmentation issues.
However, treatment of skin tags, xanthelasma, milia, and warts can still be safely performed on darker skin tones, following proper clinical assessment and suitability evaluation.

A fibroblast is the most common type of cell found in connective tissue. Fibroblasts secrete collagen proteins that are used to maintain a structural framework for many tissues. Most, if not all, methods of skin resurfacing are based on creating controlled skin damage, which activates its healing. Fibroblast cells are activated by this controlled damage to secrete tropocollagen, a precursor to collagen, and this leads to the skin remodelling and improvement in various signs of ageing.
The number of treatments required will vary according to the area being treated, skin laxity, the desired degree of correction and the individual’s response to the treatment. Most patients see results instantly and will continue to improve over the course of the following eight weeks. Further treatments can be carried out to achieve better results. Appointments must be spaced out by 8 weeks.
On the treatment day, it is recommended that no make-up is worn on the treatment area. You may take an antihistamine 30 minutes prior to your appointment to help with swelling if you are prone to swelling easily. You may continue to take antihistamines for 2-3 days following the appointment. A numbing agent is applied and left to take effect for 60 minutes. When the treatment area is sufficiently numb, the session begins with multiple connections of the fibroblast tip, spaced closely together. Treatment time is usually between 30-60 minutes, depending on the size of the area. Immediately after treatment the area may be red and mildly swollen with small carbon crusts (spots). Clients describe this experience as a sensation similar to a sun burn which will likely last a few hours. Swelling may intensify over the following few hours and more so when eyes are treated and may last 2-3 days. The carbon crusts will lift within 5 -8 days depending on the individual and area treated. Results gradually improve over the course of the following eight weeks. Following the treatment, you will be provided with thorough aftercare instructions to ensure you receive the best results. In the week following the treatment, or until the treatment area has fully healed, an exfoliating wash or cleanser should not be used. Instead opt for a pH balanced soap (Dove), and avoid rubbing the area.
It is recommended that SPF 50 sun protection be used daily for at least two weeks prior to the Fibroblast treatment. Avoid skincare products containing ingredients such as retinols, alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), tretinoin, or any form of Vitamin A. Stay out of the sun, avoid tanning salons, and refrain from using self-tanning products for three weeks prior to treatment.
You will also be given pre-treatment supplementation instructions. Please follow these as advised, as they will assist the numbing process and help make the procedure more comfortable.
You will be provided with the recommended aftercare products to use for the first 7 days post-treatment. It is advised that you only use the products provided, as the use of any other products may lead to impaired healing, scarring, or permanent pigmentation. You will also receive a copy of the aftercare instructions.
You will see immediate tightening of the skin. Collagen production begins around week 8, and the full results of the treatment are visible by week 20. Results will continue to improve over the first 20 weeks.
No other treatment should be performed on the same area within the first 8 weeks post-treatment. It takes approximately 8 weeks for the skin to fully heal. Any treatment performed before this time may result in scarring and, in some cases, keloid scarring.
