Plasma Fibroblast Skin Tightening is the only cosmetic treatment to use plasma to eliminate excess skin.
The Science Behind Plasma Pen
Plasma Pens work by creating plasma energy, otherwise known as the ‘fourth state of matter’.
Plasma is formed through the ionisation of atmospheric gasses and creates a small, controlled micro-trauma.
This ‘trauma’ creates micro-injuries throughout lower levels of the skin, that forces the dermis to produce healthy new collagen and elastin to help keep the skin plump and smooth.
Collagen continues to generate for 4-6 weeks after treatment resulting in lifted, younger, smoother skin.

A fibroblast is the most common type of cell found in connective tissue. Fibroblasts secrete collagen proteins that are used to maintain a structural framework for many tissues. Most, if not all, methods of skin resurfacing are based on creating controlled skin damage, which activates its healing. Fibroblast cells are activated by this controlled damage to secrete tropocollagen, a precursor to collagen, and this leads to the skin remodelling and improvement in various signs of ageing.
The number of treatments required will vary according to the area being treated, skin laxity, the desired degree of correction and the individual’s response to the treatment. Most patients see results instantly and will continue to improve over the course of the following eight weeks. Further treatments can be carried out to achieve better results. Appointments must be spaced out by 8 weeks.
On the treatment day, it is recommended that no make-up is worn on the treatment area. You may take an antihistamine 30 minutes prior to your appointment to help with swelling if you are prone to swelling easily. You may continue to take antihistamines for 2-3 days following the appointment. A numbing agent is applied and left to take effect for 60 minutes. When the treatment area is sufficiently numb, the session begins with multiple connections of the fibroblast tip, spaced closely together. Treatment time is usually between 30-60 minutes, depending on the size of the area. Immediately after treatment the area may be red and mildly swollen with small carbon crusts (spots). Clients describe this experience as a sensation similar to a sun burn which will likely last a few hours. Swelling may intensify over the following few hours and more so when eyes are treated and may last 2-3 days. The carbon crusts will lift within 5 -8 days depending on the individual and area treated. Results gradually improve over the course of the following eight weeks. Following the treatment, you will be provided with thorough aftercare instructions to ensure you receive the best results. In the week following the treatment, or until the treatment area has fully healed, an exfoliating wash or cleanser should not be used. Instead opt for a pH balanced soap (Dove), and avoid rubbing the area.
It is recommended that sun protection of SPF 30-50 be used daily for at least two weeks prior to the Fibroblast treatment. Skin care products with ingredients such as retinols, alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), tretinoin or any type of Vitamin A should be avoided. Stay out of the sun, tanning salons and refrain from using any self-tanning products for three weeks.
In the case of post fluid blisters after fibroblast, and after any procedure that uses heat to wound the skin in order to promote healing, we may encounter blistering from time to time. Blistering is the body’s auto response to assist in healing and protecting the area. The body is collecting fluid in tiny sacs and essentially incapsulating it to help cool that area of the skin down. It’s a healing response! Most blisters heal on their own within a few days. Blisters also provide a safe space for new skin to grow. As new skin grows, your body will slowly reabsorb the fluid.
I believe the longer the scabs stay in place the better results you will get. We want to convey that it should not cause you alarm should blisters occur. When any type of mole or dark spot is removed, blistering or puckering of skin around the area can happen as it’s simply the body rushing to heal the area, and protect the surrounding skin from infection. Never pop small fluid blisters in a case like this (after fibroblast or any skin procedure that uses heat), but rather let the blisters and area heal on its own.
